Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!    Kyle and Ryan are loving getting valentines.  It’s such a fun day for them.

No real change in Kyle.  He is a little weaker.  It’s a real effort for him to give a thumbs up but he still tries.  He loves being read to and has a couple of audio books that he listens to.  And he still tries to sing songs.  The other day he was laying on the couch singing the ABC song.  No sound from him but you could see his mouth moving.  He still paints – not for very long at all but he still wants to try.   We have  quite a collection of items painted and autographed by Kyle.

Again Happy Valentine’s Day to everybody.

Kyle is getting weaker.  He is having trouble painting with the little bit of strength he has left.  His left arm will hardly do what he wants.  It is quite hard for him to give a thumbs up but he still tries.  And he still has very, very small smiles.  He is also on oxygen most of the day.   So there’s been some decline.

This is a no news update.  There is really no change in Kyle.  He is doing alright – sleeping a lot.  But is still wanting to paint when he is awake.  And still gives us thumbs up or blows kisses when we leave.

Kyle is still hanging in there. This is really a long, slow process. He can do very little. He needs to be carried and when he sits he needs to be supported. He is still trying to paint a little each day – but that too is becoming difficult. He can raise his left hand though - enough to give you a thumbs up. The time he likes best is when Mom holds him and they cuddle and he sleeps.

Kyle’s birthday was a busy day for him.  He started out painting.  We are so lucky to have so many things painted by him.  He took a long nap in the afternoon.  Then after his nap, we all sang “Happy Birthday”.  He loves that song – he even sang too.  And then, with a little help from Ryan and Tyler and even Molly, blew out his candles.    And then today, he again did some painting.  But he wanted to have some company.  So as the day went on he had many visits from aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  It was a busy day, but he sure did seem to enjoy it.  He was pretty tired tonight.  I do hope that he has a good night.    As for how he is – no major changes.   He did want to enjoy his birthday – he did seem to be a little more alert.  And wanted to be where the action was.

January 26, 2008 - Kyle Turns 7!

HAPPY 7th BIRTHDAY TO KYLE!!!

Today is the big day.  Kyle turns 7.  Dad wished him a “Happy Birthday” as he woke up and was greeted with a smile.  He’s been pretty excited about this day.  We’ll have a small party for him at home this afternoon - with cake and candles to blow out.

Kyle’s physical body is continuing to shut down but his spirit is still 100%.  Mentally he is quite sharp and with a shake of his head can convey his message.  He still wants to paint and can hold onto a paint brush with his left hand.  But he does need help controlling his grip and arm movements.  He has no balance so he needs someone to sit with him – but that is a good way for him to cuddle.  Yesterday, Mom, Dad, Kyle, Ryan and Morgan made a canvas with their handprints in paint.  Kyle wasn’t so sure about the paint all over his hands.  He likes to paint – not be painted.  He did enjoy watching us try to get Morgan’s paw print along with the hands.

Kyle is continuing to deteriorate.  Slowly but continually.  He has very little strength and has a lot of trouble communicating.  That is very difficult for everybody – including him.  But his spirit is still there and every now and then we can get a bit of a smile from him.  I would again like to ask everybody to keep Kyle and his family in their thoughts and prayers.

Just wanted to post a quick update.    Kyle is still deteriorating – he has very little strength.  Even to the point of holding his head up.  But he still can do arts and crafts type things – which he has always loved.  He needs someone to guide his arm and that is his left arm because he doesn’t seem to have any control over his right side.  And his voice is very weak – it is very difficult for him to convey what he wants to.  He still has some spirit – he can shake his head no if he doesn’t want to do something.    And he is still looking at pictures and reading the cards from the party.  He thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and is now enjoying thinking about it.  Again, a sincere thank you to everybody who participated in some way by either being there or if you couldn’t be there - just thinking about Kyle.  Thank you.
