WOW!!! What a wonderful party!!!
Kyle had such a good time. He thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. When Dad thought t was time for him to go home because he was getting very tired. He simply told him “No, I don’t want to go yet”. When he finally did go home, he did take a nap. After that he spent a lot of time looking at pictures, videos of everybody and everything that happened at his party. And then he started reading his cards. He loved seeing the cards and reading them and seeing who they were from.
Kyle, Ryan, his Mom and Dad and grandparents want to thank everybody for making this great party possible. There is no way to express the gratitude that we have for all the workers, volunteers – family and friends. There was a lot of hard work put into planning and putting together this party in such a very short amount of time. And to everybody – who took time out of their busy Saturday morning to come and wish Kyle a Happy Birthday. Thank you. It is still totally amazing to us that Kyle and his family have touched so many people. So many people came to his party – more than we could have ever guessed.
Kyle stayed busy today reading his cards, again and again. He is losing his strength quickly but those cards and pictures are giving him something to do. We are going to put together pictures – both in photo books and DVD’s. He loves looking at them. If anybody has pictures they would like to contribute, please either email them to me at barbtierney@comcast.net or send them to his post office box – PO Box 9366, North St Paul, MN. 55109.

Kyle is doing OK. He did not feel good enough to go to school last week and doesn’t think he’ll go tomorrow. He just doesn’t feel good. His strength is zapped pretty quickly these days. But he did go outside yesterday for a while and helped build a snowman and even did a little bit of sliding.
He was confirmed on Friday. That was a very special day.
He is looking forward to his party on Saturday. It is going to be at Lake Elmo Elementary – 11030 Stillwater Blvd N. (corner of Highway 5 (Stillwater Blvd) and Lake Elmo Ave.) . Hope to see you there.
Kyle's latest news!!!
Big birthday party for him on Saturday, January 12, 2008 - save the date, details will follow. His seventh birthday will be January 26, 2008.
From day one of Kyle's illness, we have tried to be positive and focus on the good things in Kyle's struggle to beat this tumor. But this struggle is becoming more and more difficult. The tumor's rapid growth is causing Kyle to deteriorate rather quickly. He came home from school early today because he just didn't feel good. He doesn't think he wants to go tomorrow. And we all know how he loves school. He is not using his right hand, his coordination is not good and he does not have the strength to do the things he wants to do. He is not giving up - he is still fighting a good fight but he does not have the "spunk" that Kyle usually has. We are again asking for prayers for Kyle and his family.
Ryan has a thought - if Kyle could ride in Santa's sleigh, then the tumor will just fly out into the air. Wouldn't that be wonderful.
And one more bit of news. Kyle will be able to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this Friday afternoon. Father has offered to confirm him to help make him stronger in this next part of his journey

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Kyle, his family, the Katzmarks and the Tierneys want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year!!! Kyle is doing OK. He does have a cold – seems to be handling it right now. He got golf clubs for Christmas and was very excited to try them out. Yesterday he went to the golf dome with his cousin Ann and tried to perfect his swing. He’s not quite a pro but he loved trying. After that he got to go shopping to spend his Christmas money. That was quite fun.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!
Kyle is doing well and is feeling good. He went to school last week thru Friday, when his class went to the Croixdale home and put on a Christmas presentation for the residents. He memorized his lines and sang songs with all his heart. He loves being able to do things with his class.
Saturday he celebrated Christmas early with Grandpa Jim & Grandma Barb and Tracie, Bart, Tyler, Molly and Steve & Janelle. He was a very busy boy and had lots of fun. He tires pretty easily but sure had a good time opening gifts.
And then on Sunday, Grandpa Bill & Grandma Pat went to Kyle and Ryan’s house. They had a party and again got to open more gifts. These guys are becoming the gift opening pros.
Tonight, he will go to Great Grandma Schmidt’s to celebrate Christmas. Of course, there will be gifts to open. And tomorrow to Grandma Pat’s for Christmas Day and more gifts.
Kyle’s news today isn’t good. His tumor is growing very rapidly – it is now twice the size it was before his surgery the end of August. It’s been determined that the chemo will not be able to provide any benefit so they are not continuing it. There are no other treatments available. We have been seeing symptoms of the pressure the tumor is applying to his brain stem for a while - loss of balance, drooling, slurring speech and a low energy level. Kyle will continue his normal routine for as long as he can. He’ll keep going to school and he loves getting out and about. Right now we are just focusing on enjoying the Christmas season with him.
Kyle and Ryan got to talk to Santa yesterday. Got to tell him exactly what they want. And they do have exact ideas. He was at Ecolab’s Christmas party. They went with their cousins, Tyler, Molly and Aaron. They got their faces painted, decorated cookes, got to listen to live a Christmas band –who played the Chicken dance. The boys danced and danced. They played a couple of games and got balloon animals. A fun time was had by all.
Kyle is feeling good. He spent the weekend helping his Mom, Ryan and Grandmas bake cookies. There are so many cookies in that house. Santa should not have to worry about a thing. Kyle’s counts were checked again today. Everything is looking good. Next Monday he will have another MRI. It is part of the chemo protocol that he is on. We’re hoping for good results - that the chemo is able to slow the tumor’s growth. Kyle is tolerating the chemo, so he is scheduled to have a second dose next Tuesday. He will then have 2 rounds of chemo before he has another MRI. The MRI next week will establish a baseline for the next one.
