Now we have more information...The doctors feel the surgery was successful. They were able to get a lot of the tumor. The consistency of the tumor was "soupy" so they were basically able to suck it out. He has a catheter. Kyle is awake! He is laughing at his dad and he does not like all of the tubes hooked up to him and he especially wants the catheter OUT!He'll be in the PICU tonight.
Good news!Surgery is done and Kyle is in recovery. And the best news is - the doctors words "the surgery was successful". We don't know what that means just yet but it sounds positive. Will update with more soon.
2:15 and all is well. We just had an update from surgery. Kyle is doing fine.
After all the prep work to get Kyle ready, the neurosurgeon actually started surgery about 12:30.
No news yet. Kyle had an MRI this morning, then got into surgery about 11.He was in a great mood but didn't want his hair washed or the MRI markers on his head. Felt good enough to tell them "no".Will update more a little later.
Kyle had a little party yesterday afternoon at his Great Grandma Schmidt's cabin. He had lots of family and friends there. They were all there to wish him well. He had a very good time. And was so happy to see so many people. He even got to get dirty. He sat in the sand on the beach and built sand castles and just loved doing that. What a fun time for the end of summer. Surgery is still scheduled for Wednesday. He has his pre-op physical tomorrow. I will update as soon as I can. But this will probably be an all day surgery. Thank you to everybody for their continued prayers and support. This will so help Kyle and his family get through these upcoming days.
Kyle went to the State Fair yesterday with Mom, Ryan and Grandma Pat and Grandpa Bill. He had a wonderful time. He got to see lots of animals, including some babies. And he got to go on some rides. He had a great day. He is still feeling good. Surgery is still scheduled for Wednesday morning. Please continue praying for a good outcome.
WOW!!! Kyle went shopping last night. He shopped and shopped and shopped. I don't believe Target could possibly have any more toys. With help from Mom, Ryan, Ann and Grandmas, he overflowed 3 carts at Target, 2 carts at Toys R Us and Joanne. Buying everything from video games and DVD's to puzzle books, baby toys, and plenty of boy toys. He also got plenty of crafty type items. This afternoon, with all of his helpers, including Grandpa Bill, these gifts were taken to Children's Hospital. They were loaded up onto carts and transported inside. The workers there were very appreciative of Kyle's efforts. He did a great job, making a surprising amount of money and spending it very wisely producing quite a carload of packages. This was quite a bit of fun for all of us. Way to go Kyle!!!!!!! Thanks for the experience.
Kyle had his lemonade stand today. It started to rain just before 10 this morning so everything was moved inside but that didn't stop Kyle from having the time of his life. He greeted many people and handed out lots of glasses of lemonade. And his tip jar was ready for anyone who wished to "tip" him. Now with a full jar he gets to go shopping to buy toys to take to the hospital. Kyle and his Mom and Dad wish to thank the Gormans for their kind genorosity. They made this fun day possible. Ed and Kathy and their family - Kevin, Jason and Kevin and Jason's sister Angie did a fabulous job making everyone feel welcome. The help also came from aunts, cousins and Jason's daughter Mikayla. Thanks again to the Gormans!!!! And thanks to everyone who came out on this rainy Saturday to meet Kyle and to help make this day one that Kyle will remember for a very long time.
